At our first class we will discuss the specific steps to becoming certified as an NP in NYS. Please go to the NYS web pages for nurse practitioners, review the requirements and forms listed there. Print out the following forms: From 1, Form 2, Form 4NP. You will not need the other forms at this time.

Also please go to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and print the following: The certification handbook (at the bottom of the page) and the application for Adult Certification at the top of the page. When you get to to website, you do not need to log-in. Click on the Certification tab then Certification Documents in the orange drop down boxes. Please bring these documents to class.

The web addresses for these both can be found in the "Bookmarks" section of this page.

What actually happens in the ER? How do patients and families view this issue? How does your preceptor or clinical site view this issue and how are they meeting these new requirements?

Remember, the NYS Collaborative Practice Agreement is an entirely different document and the two should not be confused. You will only be asked about the basic drugs for Alzheimers such as Exelon, Aricept etc., of course by generic names. You must know the MMSE by heart.
