Students study medical terminology and basic nursing skills necessary to function as technologists. Venipuncture techniques will be demonstrated and practiced. Medical and legal considerations and ethics are discussed. An emphasis is placed on the concept of the patient's mental condition during hospitalization and describes anxiety and other emotional states and their manifestation in different individuals. Patient care issues and the problems of dealing with critically and terminally ill patients are discussed. The course includes basic life support and techniques of C.P.R. including lectures, demonstration and actual participation leading to certification.
