Description
This course examines key issues related to the education of students with special academic needs; physical or emotional challenges; cultural, social, or economic differences. Special attention is given to teaching strategies which create and foster environments conducive to the affective and cognitive development of all students in the regular education classroom. In particular the creation of environments conducive to using oral and written language for effective social communication between students of varying ability levels is stressed. This course examines inclusive, collaborative, and mainstream models.
