Description

A study of evolutionary biology. The range of topics includes the origins of life, genetic drift, selection, speciation and the macro-evolutionary trends in adaptive radiation and extinction. Evolutionary theory is examined in relation to its ability to explain biological complexity and structural anomalies in various taxa including humans. Prerequisites: BIO 127, BIO 242 or permission of the instructor. Required of all biology majors in the Adolescent and Adolescent Special Education Programs.
