(formerly SPA 171, 301 Introduction to Spanish and Latin American Literature; formerly Reading in Spanish)
This course is designed to prepare the intermediate students of Spanish to acquire critical reading skills. Following contemporary reading theory, reading in this course is to be understood as a complex cognitive process in which reader and text interact to (re)create meaningful discourse. Therefore, the main focus of this course centers on the acquisition of reading skills and strategies of textual analysis. Prerequisite: SPA 220 or Chairperson's approval.
