Description

This course will examine the cultural production of representative works by U.S. Latino writers, visual artists and film makers, focusing on the social and historical construction of Latino identity. Readings of theoretical works that explore issues of immigration, gender, race and ethnicity will serve as basis for the methodological approach that will guide the analysis of the various cultural texts. This course will be of great interest for Nursing, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Psychology, Communication and Criminal Justice majors as an elective. This course does not fulfill the foreign language general education requirement, except for the students who are exempt from taking a foreign language because of a documented learning disability. This course is taught in English.
