Description

(formerly PSY 257; formerly Introduction to Clinical and Counseling Psychology; Clinical and Counseling Psychology)
The counseling and therapeutic processes, including selection of clients, beginning treatment, therapist and counselor characteristics, intermediate phases, termination and evaluation are all covered in this introductory course. Emphasis is placed on understanding the basic foundations upon which contemporary and traditional theories of counseling are built. Discussion also focuses on the extent to which cultural diversities impact on the therapeutic relationship. Prerequisites: PSY 111, PSY 326
