Description

This is a theory, laboratory and clinical Level II nursing course that combines concepts of humanistic nursing practice with assessment, foundational nursing skills and therapeutics necessary to provide safe, competent patient-centered care. The health assessment content is integrated with the related skills of the specific system to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the complex role of the professional nurse. The clinical and laboratory settings will provide the student with an opportunity to develop assessment and communication skills and to perform therapeutic interventions utilizing the nursing process in order to achieve quality patient outcomes. Experience in the clinical environment provides the student opportunity to apply theory, engage in critical thinking and clinical decision making as they begin to participate as a member of the interdisciplinary health team. Students will participate in three (3) hours of lecture/week, two (2) hour laboratory/ week and 78 clinic
