These are introductory courses that focus on the development of communicative proficiency in the French language. These courses afford students the opportunities to practice speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in French, as well as to gain knowledge and understanding of the culture. Particular emphasis is placed in the systematic mastery of vocabulary and conversational skills. FRE 101 is intended for students with little or no previous experience in the language. FRE 102 is intended for students who have taken FRE 101 or with 3 or more years of French at the secondary level. Students are required to complete 1 hour of lab work per week in the Language Resource Center.
