Description
This course is designed to provide teacher candidates with a holistic and interdisciplinary method of teaching social studies in inclusive classrooms of diverse learners. The curriculum topics emphasized correlate to the New York State Social Studies syllabus and current trends in education. Teacher candidates integrate social studies education, language arts and literature, and technology to address the needs of all students including those for whom remediation or enrichment is necessary. New York State Learning Standards for Social Studies are studied in-depth. Teacher candidates relate social studies content and methodology to field experiences.
