Description
This course examines the social and political realities of life on Long Island. Among the issues that will be addressed are the legacy of racial and economic inequality, the culture of consumerism and the effects of suburban sprawl on community life. The course will also explore various philosophical and sociological ideas about how the suburban environment could be transformed in order to make it more sustainable for future generations. Core courses are not open to Freshmen or Sophomores.
