Description
The question of America is whether or not the nation has lived up to its founding idea and ideals. After the European invasion of the new world, the aspirations of the colonists, the revolutionaries, the Transcendentalists, the abolitionists and the early industrialists carried the torch of the Union founded on ideologies of democracy, equality and liberty. This interdisciplinary course investigates the American society from historical and philosophical perspectives. It puts early America to the question: "Was early America American?" Core courses are not open to Freshmen or Sophomores, except for associate degree candidates.
