Description
This course is an introduction to media analysis. Students will learn to 'read' media texts (films, television, websites) through the formal elements and language particular to media. Topics for film and television include camera, sound, mise-en-scene and genres. Website analysis focuses on the elements that make up web pages (video, still images, audio, text, graphics). Student assignments emphasize oral presentations. A significant portion (at least 50%) is formal oral presentation work. This is a Communications Speech General Education course.
